PRE/POST CARE
How to Prep Before Your Appointment:
Come With Clean Lashes: Avoid applying makeup around the eyes on the day of your appointment, this helps the appointment begin smoothly. This ensures a clean canvas to work with.
Avoid Caffeine of Any Type of Stimulants: An excess of caffeine, especially on an empty stomach, can lead to twitchy eyes, which makes the application harder for the lash artist.
Remove Contacts: If you wear contact lenses, it’s best to remove them before the appointment, as they can be uncomfortable when lying with your eyes closed for long periods.
Lash Care at Home:
The first 24-48 Hours-
Lash Extension:
Yes, you absolutely can get your lash extensions wet!! Forget that old myth about avoiding water for the first 48 hours. Starting right when you get home, you will start cleansing your lashes daily. This will help prevent irritation and help improve lash hygiene.
Avoid Saunas, Hot Tubs, and Steam Rooms: Excessive heat and steam can break down the adhesive, causing the lashes to fall out sooner.
Keep Hands OFF!! Avoid rubbing, touching, or messing with your new lashes. Oils from your hands and picking or pulling at your extensions will result in premature shedding or damage to the natural lash.
Lash Lift:
Don’t use mascara! After your lash lift, wait at least 48 hours before applying mascara. This helps prevent any interference with the lift process, allowing the curl to settle.
Be gentle when cleaning your lashes. Avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes harshly.
Daily Maintenance-
Lash Extensions/Lash Lift:
Wash Your Lashes: A lash-safe cleanser and a soft cleansing brush will be your new best friend! This helps remove dirt, oils, and makeup buildup without damaging the extensions.
No Oil-Based Products: Oil is the enemy of lash adhesive. Stick to oil-free makeup, skincare and make-up remover.
Brush Them Morning and Night: Gently brush your lashes with a clean spoolie (lash brush) every day to keep them neat, separated, and free from tangles.
Lifestyle Tips for Lash Longevity:
Lash Extensions:
Sleep Smart
Sleeping on your back and using a silk pillowcase can reduce friction and help the lashes stay put while you’re dreaming and sleeping.
Skip the Bad Habits!
No picking, pulling, or rubbing. These habits can damage extensions and the natural lashes.
Choose Products Wisely
Always go for the oil-free and lash-safe products, especially when it comes to makeup and skincare! Hapy lashes are clean lashes!
Lash Lift:
Choose Your Makeup Products Wisely
Avoid Waterproof Makeup: After getting a lash lift, it's a good idea to avoid waterproof makeup around the eyes, especially mascara. Waterproof makeup is much harder to remove compared to regular makeup. When you try to remove it, you may end up rubbing or pulling on your lashes more than necessary, which can weaken the lift or cause lash breakage.
Skip the Lash Curler!
After a lash lift, there’s no need for a lash curler. Your lashes are already beautifully lifted, so using a curler can actually damage them.
No Rubbing!
Excessive rubbing motion and tugging can bring your lashes to its natural state a lot quicker.
When it’s Time to Schedule a Lash Fill:
Signs It’s Time for a Fill - Noticeable gaps or unevenness across your lash lines? Time to contact your service provider to schedule your next lash fill!
Keep in Mind - Lash extensions naturally shed with your natural lashes, so scheduling regular fills (every 2-3 weeks) will help keep them looking full and fresh.
Knowing When it's Time to Schedule a Lash Lift:
Lashes are Losing Lift - Over time, your lash lift will naturally start to lose its curl. If your lashes are no longer holding the curl and are beginning to droop or straighten out, it's a good sign that it's time for a touch-up.
Visible Growth - As your natural lashes grow, the lifted part may appear less noticeable, and you might start seeing the roots of your lashes pointing straight out rather than curled. When this happens, it’s a good time to schedule another lash lift.
Regular Maintenance - A typical lash lift lasts around 6-8 weeks, depending on your lash growth cycle. If it's been about that long since your last appointment, it's a good idea to schedule a new one.
